Nel weekend del 23/24 maggio si è svolto sul famoso circuito stradale dell'Oliver's Mount a Scarborough (costa orientale dell'Inghilterra) il "Barry Sheene International Classic Race Festival". Sono state disputate in tutto 24 gare, sia per moto classiche che moderne, ed il mattatore dell'evento è stato l'inglese Ryan Farquhar, attualmente uno dei dei più forti piloti Inglesi su circuiti stradali, tra l'altro già vincitore del Manx GP nel 2007 e 2008 con la Paton BIC 500 8v del "Team Winfield", con un bottino di 18 vittorie su 18 gare disputate!

Nelle gare riservate alle moto classiche Ryan ha battagliato per tutte e due le giornate con Oliver Linsdell, in sella alla Paton BIC 500 8v di "Squadra Corse Collezione Motociclistica Milanese", scambiandosi continuamente il ruolo di detentore del record sul giro, il che li ha portati a migliorare di 4 secondi il record della classe "500 Classiche" e di 1 secondo quello della classe "Superbike Classiche", categoria senza limite di cilindrata!

Gli stessi organizzatori, al termine della manifestazione, hanno confermato di aver assistito alla più bella gara degli ultimi anni sul circuito dell' "Oliver's Mount": speriamo che questo sia di buon auspicio per lo spettacolo cui potremo assistere all'inizio di Settembre all'Isola di Man , dove entrambe i piloti saranno al via del Senior Manx GP in sella alle loro Paton, su quello stesso circuito del "Mountain" dove nel corso delle prossime 2 settimane si daranno ancora battaglia, questa volta in sella a moto moderne, in occasione dell'edizione 2009 del Tourist Trophy.

 

 

Over the weekend of 23/24 May the famous Oliver's Mount road circuit, Scarborough (England east coast), played host to the "Barry Sheene International Classic Race Festival".

Just 24 races in 2 days, open to classic and modern machines, and the British Ryan Farquhar, one of todays top road racers in UK, the 2007 and 2008 Senior Manx GP winner with "Team Winfield" Paton BIC 500 8V, stole the show winning all the 18 races he started!

With regard to the Classic Bike races, Ryan diced all the weekend with Oliver Linsdell, the latter on "Squadra Corse Collezione Motociclistica Milanese" Paton BIC 500 8v, with new lap records continuosly swapping from each of them: the battle was so close they bettered the "Classic 500" lap record by 4 seconds and the "Classic Superbike"(unlimited class) by 1 second!

The Circuit promoter himself, by the end of the event, confirmed he had attended the best race for years on the "Oliver's Mount" circuit: we hope this could be a nice preview of the show spectators will attend beginning of next September on the Isle of Man, where both Oliver and Ryan will be at the start of the Senior Manx GP with their Patons, along the same "Mountain Circuit" they'll be racing on over next 2 weeks, this time on modern bikes, on the occasion of 2009 Tourist Trophy.
