Nel weekend del 9/10.05.2009 si è svolta sul circuito stradale di Mettet (Belgio) la prima prova della serie IHRO 2009, organizzata in concomitanza con una prova del Campionato Belga, riservata alle moto classiche da competizione.

Nella classe IHRO 500 la vittoria è andata all'Inglese Lea Gourlay, che alla guida della Paton BIC 500 del "Team Winfield" ha dominato le gare di entrambe le giornate,  aggiudicandosi anche la pole position e facendo registrare il miglior tempo sul giro nella gara di domenica; nella gara di sabato il miglior tempo in gara era appannaggio di Bart Crauwels, il corridore belga che corre in sella alla Paton BIC 500 del "Team JAGA", che prendeva il via dalla seconda posizione sulla griglia di partenza; purtroppo dopo un paio di giri Bart era costretto al ritiro per problemi tecnici.

 

Per quanto riguarda il Trofeo Paton/Trans Ferry/IHRO, riservato ai corridori "Privati", la classifica dopo la 1a prova vede appaiati al comando Luke Notton e Mick Nash De Villiers con 50 punti, seguiti da Franz Glauser a 45 punti.

 

I vincitori delle classifiche assolute delle varie classi che hanno ricevuto la Polo ufficiale Paton/Trans Ferry/IHRO, personalizzata con un ricamo indicante la pista e la classe, sono stati Lea Gourlay per la classe "500 pluricilindrici", Phil Sharp per la "500 Mono", Luke Notton nella 350 e Mick Nash De Villiers nella 250; appuntamento tra un mese, il 13 e 14 Giugno, per la seconda prova sul circuito stradale di Schleiz, in Germania.

 

 

Nello stesso weekend si è corso anche in Francia, sul circuito di Croix en Ternois, dove si è svolta la 3a prova valida per il Campionato Francese di Moto Classiche (VMA).

Il pilota Svizzero Kurt Weber, che non aveva partecipato alla 2a prova dello scorso 26 Aprile sul circuito di Carole, in sella alla sua Paton BIC 500 ha prontamente recuperato le posizioni perse in Classifica Generale: con due vittorie ed un secondo posto nelle 3 manches corse a Croix en Ternois si è infatti riportato al 2° posto con 108 punti, a 9 lunghezze dal leader Denis Coumoul su Honda 500 Four.

 

 

The first 2009 IHRO Series racing event together with a Belgian Championship Race, both reserved to Racing Classic Bikes, took  place on the road circuit of Mettet (Belgium) over last weekend, 9th and 10th of May.

The IHRO 500 class was won by British rider Lea Gourlay who, astride his "Team Winfield"'s Paton BIC 500 dominated races in both days, after he took the pole position and recorded the fastest race lap on Sunday: Bart Crauwels, the Belgian rider who rides the "Team Jaga"'s Paton BIC 500, settled the fastest race lap on Saturday race, but sadly had to retire after a couple of laps because of technical troubles. 

 

With regards to "Paton/Trans Ferry/IHRO Owner Rider Competition", after the first event Luke Notton and Mick Nash De Villiers are joint leaders with 50 points, with Franz Glauser a close third with 45 points.

 

Class overall winners were awarded the Work Paton/Trans Ferry/IHRO polo shirts, customized with embroidered name of the circuit and class they won: Lea Gourlay was "Multi 500" class winner, while Phil Sharp was "Single 500" winner, Luke Notton the "350cc" and Mick Nash De Villiers the "250cc" winners; next time within a month, on 13th and 14th of June, along the road circuit in Schleiz, Germany, which will play host to the 2nd 2009 IHRO Series racing event: see you there.

 

 

During the same weekend another racing event took place at Croix en Ternois Circuit, France, valid as 3rd leg for French Classic Bike Championship (VMA).

Swiss rider Kurt Weber, who missed the 2nd event at Carole circuit last April the 26th, promptly regained the 2nd overall place he had achieved after the first 2 rounds in Le Mans: winning 2 out of 3 rounds and finishing 2nd on the 3rd round run at Croix en Ternois, he is now 2nd, with 108 points, 9 lenghts behind the leader Denis Coumoul on his Honda 500 Four.
